Applying for a visa

Visa for GGGWeek 2017 Speakers/Panelists/Council & Assembly Delegates

GGGI is delighted to inform you that we provide support for visa application in close coordination with the Government of Ethiopia.

Please note that you are advised to apply for the visa with the support of GGGI, beforehand through the Ethiopian embassies/consulate in your countries. However, if there is no Ethiopian embassy/consulate you will qualify for visa on arrival arrangement for applicable countries.

Visas to enter Ethiopia are all pre-approved by the immigration office in Ethiopia and GGGI will facilitate a more expedited process for all participants as per applicability.

Please carefully refer to the following information and complete online registration before the deadline indicated below.

Deadline for online registration to request pre-approval for visa application: 12:00 pm on 15th of September 2017, KST.

To enter Ethiopia, all delegates must hold a passport with at least six months validity. For UN diplomatic service passports, African Union, United Nations and African Development Bank passports, and Kenyan and Djiboutian citizens, visa requirement is waivered.

1. Delegates who are citizens of countries that require a visa application in advance and have Ethiopian diplomatic missions, embassies or consulate in their countries, should follow the process below:

Step 1. Complete online registration at www.gggweek2017.org. Once completed, you’ll receive confirmation of registration.

Step 2. Make sure to upload the copy of your passport bio-data page when completing online registration. If you reside in a different country than your passport, please make sure to upload a scanned copy of your work/residency permit (e.g. Alien Registration Card) as well.

Step 3. GGGI will seek visa pre-approval from immigration authorities in Ethiopia on your behalf.

Step 4. Once approved, you will receive confirmation email from GGGI.

Step 5. Take the approval email, confirmation email of online registration, invitation letter from GGGI and all other visa requirements to the Ethiopian embassy in your country of residence to make an in-person application.
- We STRONGLY advise you to consult the Ethiopian embassy in your countries of residence for any additional specific requirements to secure a visa.

2. Delegates who are citizens of countries that require a visa application in advance and have NO Ethiopian diplomatic missions, embassies or consulate in their countries, should follow the process below:

Step 1. Complete online registration at www.gggweek2017.org. Once completed, you’ll receive confirmation of registration.

Step 2. Make sure to upload the copy of your passport bio-data page when completing online registration. If you reside in a different country than your passport, please make sure to upload a scanned copy of your work/residency permit (e.g. Alien Registration Card) as well.

Step 3. GGGI will seek visa-on-arrival approval from immigration authorities in Ethiopia on your behalf.

Step 4. Once approved, you will receive the immigration approval slip via email.

Step 5. Take the immigration approval slip, confirmation email of online registration and invitation letter from GGGI to apply visa-on-arrival upon your arrival to Bole International Airport.
